Critique Towards Editorial Texas post.

In an editorial from the Dallas News, the author discusses the point of political corruption in the city of Dallas. His first point was that there have been several cases of "high-profile corruption cases in North Texas". The author states that people may think that it could be very easy to stop corruption by simply selecting a different city council that seems to be good. I did like one point that he states that voting for a city council lots of people do not take in consideration because the citizens believe it is not an important role in their community. But as the author states "They have the power to raise property taxes, sign contracts and make your commute better or worse". This may be an eye-opener for the community because now they will realize who is in charge of the high change on property taxes. The author also states that now a whole lot of people are going out to vote during this election main reason is that they don't find it as important as a presidential election or a governor election. A big percent, in my opinion, has to do with the Hispanic population as we know that Austin, Houston, and Dallas are top cities in Texas and Hispanic's are becoming the majority of the population in these cities. A big percentage of Hispanic's do not have legal documents which obviously makes them eligible to vote. But I do hope that those who are able to vote do it and become more involved in this type of election. As the author stated that the more the eyes that are looking at this type of election the more difficult it becomes for the politician to practice corruption. I could not agree more on this point with the author because if the community gets engaged then the corruption level should decrease.
